Morissentences.

I’m broke but I’m happy, I’m poor but I’m kind… I’m short but I’m healthy.  Yeah.  I’m high but I’m grounded.  I’m sane (but I’m overwhelmed!), I’m lost — but I’m hopeful baby.  What it all comes down to is that every thing’s gonna be fine, fine, fine… I’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other one is giving a high five.

I feel drunk but I’m sober.  I’m young and I’m underpaid: I’m tired but I’m working (yeah?).  I care but I’m worthless, I’m here… but I’m really gone.  I’m wrong, and I’m sorry baby.  What it all comes down to is that every thing’s gonna be quite alright — I’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other one is flicking a cigarette.

What it all comes down to is that I haven’t got it all figured out just yet.  I’ve got one hand in my pocket, and the other one is giving the peace sign.

I’m free but I’m focused.  I’m green, but I’m wise.  I’m shy… but I’m friendly baby.

I’m sad but I’m laughing, I’m brave but I’m chicken shit.  I’m sick but I’m pretty baby.  And what it all boils down to is that no one’s really got it figured out just yet: I’ve got one hand in my pocket and the other one is playing the piano.

What it all comes down to my friends is that every thing’s just fine.  Fine.  FINE!  I’ve got one hand in my pocket (and the other one is hailing a taxicab).

  1. Can someone please explain to me the whole blogging songs?  I’m not knocking it but it confuses the crap out of me.  Is it like how you feel?  The song speaks to you on a more profound level?  I am NOT knocking the whole song blogging concept, it’s just that when everyone does it all it does is worry me cause I can’t tell what anyone is REALLY trying to say.  And only hail a taxi cab if you’re coming to visit!;)  Taxi drivers will get you killed.  Seriously.

  2. Well, if I’m not posting lyrics in the "song" format (see Long Time, No Post), but in the "sentence and paragraph" format like I did above, I’m usually seeing how well I can take the lyrics of a song and turn it into a conversation (or a monologue as the case may be).  Sometimes it’s easy, as in the case of A beetle-browed tale… which is obviously "Rocky Raccoon" by The Beatles.  Sometimes it’s a little more challenging, like A brief cameo… which is "Word Up" by Cameo.

"Hand In My Pocket" is a real challenge because she keeps repeating "I’m" so damned many times, and the verses are so short.  I heard it on the radio, and thought it might be interesting (at least to me) to give it a try.  In the absence of posting actual content, I at least try to post the things that amuse me every now and again.

At any rate, If I post lyrics because I’m particularly moved by them, I’ll go ahead and clue you into the reason they moved me as that might spark up some meaningful discussion… or at least some meaningful ridicule, which is better than nothing.  I’m not an emo kid posting a sparse and abandoned set of lyrics in a desperate plea for attention.

By the way, don’t you ever check your email?

  3. Yep, like every week or two. Kidding.  I just read the e-mail and then plan the reply.  It takes me a while to get enough together to set time aside to write.  You know the drill.  Baby + husband + housework + Job = I barely have enough time to sleep.
