I shall bow and pray now.

I have found someone worthy of my heartfelt respect and admiration. This lady here writes with such elegance and ease, and wields the sharpest tongue I have seen in many a year. She makes me look like a fucking boyscout with a serious mission to earn his place in heaven early in life.

Check out the rest of her site, dooce.com, but you might want to start here, where she not only tells you a little about herself, but links to some very tasty entries to read, including that gem I linked up top.

Oh, and if you want to jump into some fairly funny shit right away, go straight here.

  1. Well, while we’re sharing.

Once upon a time, when I was still more or less active in Newsgroup discussions, I came across a particular poster who always caught my interest. She had a lot of qualities that I did not (and still don’t) have, in terms of writing. She was smart, funny, witty, and always made for good reading.

Waif (her NG handle) may or may not have been smarter, funnier, or wittier than I. (I think she was, but that’s beside the point). What set her apart from everyone else in that group, besides her raw honesty and overall intelligence, was her succinctness. She had, and (to my knowledge) still has, this near-superhuman mutant power to SAY the absolute most utilizing the absolute least verbage. Regardless of subject matter, she could make a stronger, clearer, more descriptive and impacting point with only twenty seconds and one finger on the keyboard.

Three of her words are generally worth pages of others.

I have yet to meet another writer who has the ability to so completely make it seem as if you could not only see her experiences, but LIVE them yourself, in only a single breath. If she were writing this, the post would likely already have ended twice over.

An added bonus is that she is… unique. So, if you’re into that sort of thing, I’d suggest you visit her and start here.
