{"id":2217,"date":"2024-11-11T09:40:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T15:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/?p=2217"},"modified":"2024-11-11T09:40:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T15:40:48","slug":"beef-and-broccoli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/beef-and-broccoli","title":{"rendered":"Beef and Broccoli"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 LB flank steak (cut into thin strips)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd TSP ground white pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2153 C low sodium soy sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2153 C water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 TBS brown sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 cloves garlic (minced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 one-inch piece fresh ginger (peeled and grated)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 TBS cornstarch (optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 TBS sesame oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd onion (chopped)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 large head broccoli (cut into florets and blanched)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White rice (optional for serving)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 TBS sesame seeds (toasted)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 scallions (sliced on the bias)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Season the beef with white pepper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch, if using. Set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a large nonstick skillet over high heat, warm 1\/2 tablespoon of the sesame oil until just smoking. Add the beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is just about cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the remaining 1\/2 tablespoon of oil to the skillet, then add the onions and cook until they are softened, about 8 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the blanched and drained broccoli and cook for 1 minute. Then add the reserved sauce and stir to coat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return the beef to the skillet and continue to cook until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has reduced slightly, about 3 minutes more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer to serving plates over rice or veggie rice.
