{"id":2285,"date":"2024-11-11T16:40:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T22:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/?p=2285"},"modified":"2024-11-11T16:40:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T22:40:48","slug":"salisbury-steak-with-mushroom-gravy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/salisbury-steak-with-mushroom-gravy","title":{"rendered":"Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Salisbury Steak:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bd onion (grated fine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd C panko breadcrumbs or \u2153 C ordinary breadcrumbs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 LB ground beef<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 garlic cloves (minced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 TBS ketchup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 beef bouillon cube (crumbled)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd TSP Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 TSP dijon mustard or 2 TSP dry mustard powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gravy:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 TBS olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 garlic cloves (minced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd onion (finely chopped)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 OZ mushrooms (sliced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 TBS butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 TBS flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 C beef broth \/ stock<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd C water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 TSP dijon mustard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 TSP Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Salisbury Steaks:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Place breadcrumbs in a bowl. Use a box grater and grate the onion over the breadcrumbs. Mix with fingers, leave to soak for a few minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add remaining Salisbury Steak ingredients into the large bowl. Use your hands to mix until just combined. Mix well for a couple of minutes until the mixture becomes a bit &#8220;pasty&#8221; which will ensure your patties hold together well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Divide into 5 and pat very firmly into oval patties around 3\/4&#8243;thick.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cooking and Gravy:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Add the steaks and cook the first side for 1 minute or until browned, then gently flip and brown the other side (they will still be raw inside). Remove onto plate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If skillet is looking dry, add a touch more oil. Add chopped onion and garlic and cook for 2 minute until onions are a bit translucent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the mushrooms into the skillet and cook for 2 \u2013 3 minutes until golden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn heat down to medium. Add butter. Once melted, add flour and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gradually add in beef broth, stirring as you go. Once mostly lump free, whisk in remaining Gravy ingredients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add steaks along with the juices on the plate. Cook for 5 \u2013 7 minutes, or until gravy is thickened, stirring occasionally around the steaks. If the gravy thickens too quickly, add more water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove steaks onto a plate. Taste gravy and adjust salt and pepper to taste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve salisbury steaks topped with the mushroom gravy.
