{"id":863,"date":"2009-03-26T12:06:34","date_gmt":"2009-03-26T18:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dmentd.com\/?p=863"},"modified":"2009-04-08T19:47:28","modified_gmt":"2009-04-09T01:47:28","slug":"where-them-wild-things-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/where-them-wild-things-be","title":{"rendered":"Where Them Wild Things Be."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You know, I never entertained the thought that the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Where-Wild-Things-Maurice-Sendak\/dp\/0060254920\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1238090069&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Where the Wild Things Are<\/strong><\/a> would ever be anything other than the book it is.\u00a0 Not that I disbelieved it could be translated to another medium (and it has already, frankly, in animated form &#8212; but it never took hold in the imaginations of the kids who loved the book), or that it was sacred or anything, but just&#8230; well&#8230; I dunno.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s always been <em>that<\/em> book I loved as a kid (along with the little known, but utterly fantastic <a href=\"http:\/\/frankensteinia.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/norman-bridwells-how-to-care-for-your.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>How to Care for Your Monster<\/strong><\/a>), and that I still really adore to this day.\u00a0 The monsters are beautifully drawn, and I have always had an affinity for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Where-Wild-Things-Moishe-Plush\/dp\/B000EVUQBI\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Moishe<\/strong><\/a> (and he is, incidentally, hanging upside down in my office at work creating mischief&#8230; and reminding me to do the same), who I am just noticing I bear a resemblance to.<\/p>\n<p>Well, they&#8217;ve been working on a movie adaptation of it for a little while now, and there is now a trailer out.\u00a0 It&#8217;s still too early to tell, even from the sketchy trailer, if it has potential to be entertaining.\u00a0 I&#8217;m holding on to guarded optimism.<\/p>\n<p><center><center><\/p>\n<p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know, I never entertained the thought that the book Where the Wild Things Are would ever be anything other than the book it is.\u00a0 Not that I disbelieved it could be translated to another medium (and it has already, frankly, in animated form &#8212; but it never took hold in the imaginations of the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,3,10],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-863","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-entertainment","category-links","category-rambling"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/863","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=863"}],"version-history":[{"count":10,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/863\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":875,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/863\/revisions\/875"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=863"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=863"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dmentd.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=863"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
