Coffee – Aeropress – MTM

Equipment:

Method #1: Bold Flavor

Ingredients:

  • 2 level scoops (~22 GR, a double shot) coffee (fine ground)
  • Tiniest pinch of salt
  • Boiling water
  1. Add filter, grounds and salt to the Aeropress coffee maker.
  2. Pour in just enough freshly boiled water to wet the grounds, then wait for 15 seconds.
  3. Pour in enough water, fresh off the boil, to reach the “4” mark.
  4. Stir for 10 seconds.
  5. Wet the rubber of the plunger, insert and gently press (the weight of two hands resting on the plunger is usually sufficient), taking ~30 seconds to complete the process.
  6. Top the brewed coffee with 6 OZ of the boiled water.

Yields ~10 OZ brewed coffee.

Method #2: Balanced Flavor

Ingredients:

  • 16 GR coffee (medium ground)
  • Tiniest pinch of salt
  • 250 GR boiling water
  1. Add filter, grounds and salt to the Aeropress coffee maker.
  2. Pour in the water, fresh off the boil, taking care to wet all the grounds as you do so.
  3. Immediately place the plunger into the top of the brewer, about 1 CM in to create a vacuum.
  4. Steep for 3 minutes.
  5. At 1 minute remaining, holding the brewer and the plunger, gently swirl the brewer to settle the grounds.
  6. Plunge, taking 20 – 30 seconds.

Yields ~8 OZ brewed coffee.
