The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

H’okay  folks.  This is an official announcement for a group event.  Friday, July 11th is opening night for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and I intend to see it with as many of you as are willing to go.  Afterwards, we’ll go to Outback, and have a nice steak dinner, darlinks.

The details are a follows:

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
AMC Palace 20 — Elmwood
8:00pm

I suggest you buy your tickets in advance.  Dinner after the movie.  Heavy drinking after dinner.

Comment with your intention to attend, and we’ll try to coordinate arrival times, holding seats, etc.

Be there, or be trapezoidal.

  1. Iwanna go, I wanna go!!!! Give me details!! What is the movie about?? I need to get out of the house. I also need a job. Ok, done. Lemme know.

  2. What is the movie about?

    *blink*

You must be the first person I’m aware of who’s going to see the movie without having read any of Alan Moore’s comics (on which the movie is based).

  3. Oh man. I really really wanna see this movie. Oh but wait, my brother works at the theater, I can see it anytime. I’ll survive.

Anyway I have work until around 10 on friday, but I’d like to meet up for the Outback part. Give me a time and I’ll be there.

  4. We’d love to hang out with everyone — but we are from the world of the unemployed where poor Raul supports a bum of a soon to be wife.. While we can’t do the steak dinner/movie thing, we’d love to meet up with you guys for some hanging out afterwards if you all name the neighborhood of a time and place 🙂

  5. going!!!! with chicks!!!!!

and later, let’s attack my friday night bartender. he needs to quit. badly. and i need to work. badly.

  6. You will all no doubt be relieved to hear that I will be there.

Or maybe you’ll change your plans. Either way, I’m going.

On a more personal note, I’d like to point out that I’m only going to be with you people, as I believe this movie will be quite shitty.

  7. Cuz my dear, re-read the original blog. It has all the details you need: Movie time & place, dinner place, etc.

As far as movie details go, it has Sean Connery in it, and that’s all anyone of the female persuasion needs to know, usually, to get them to a movie.

  8. God. Fucking. Damnit.

Okay, I’m not going. It turns out I agreed to be in Baton Rouge "right after work" Friday, as opposed to Saturday, like I’d thought. In any case, my presence there is something I have apparently agreed to, and I’m not going back on that.

No rest for the weary, I suppose. Looks like no party for me this weekend.

    Fear for my boss.

  9. H’okay, it looks like four folks so far from this group for the movie – Krazy, Cuz, Lady and myself – with potential for more from the non-blog frequenting sect. If anyone else is going to attend, you need to let me know so we can get an accurate count and try to hold on to seats for everyone if we can.

I am one of those nutty folks who likes to get to the theatre early to make sure they can get a seat somewhere decent, and definitely not on the floor (I’ve only become this way since the Palace theatres opened up). Since the movie is for 8:00pm, I’m aiming to get there at 7:00-ish. If anyone would like to help me hold seats (hint hint I’m not going to do it by myself) I would appreciate you getting there about that time too.

I also have a general disdain for folks who don’t make the effort to get to the theatre at least 10 minutes before show time, knowing the whole time that someone is fighting other people off to hold a set for them. If you don’t exhibit enough common courtesy to the folks keeping your seat by making the effort to arrive ten minutes early, be warned that your seat will be given to the next vagrant motherfucker who wants it at 7:50pm. There are exceptions to this rule, but they are few and far between and will be judged on a case-by-case basis.

Also, I’d like to get a head-count for dinnertime, too. Looking like five from this mob – Krazy, Cuz, Dimples, Lady and myself. Once again, let me know. The movie has a running time of about 110 minutes, which would put us at Outback around 10:00pm.

Booze consumption afterwards will more than likely be at JabbaJaws, so we can terrorize the Friday night bartender and hopefully get Krazy his shift. Time for that is unknown. We’ll have to call folks not at Outback when we’re ready to leave.

If there are any further updates, I’ll post them here. That is all, you are dismissed.

  10. I know it’s been a while, but I’d just like to say that I hate you all. If I didn’t have a wedding to attend this evening I would love to see a movie and drink massive quantities of alcoholic beverages with people that I hate so much.
Oh and Dmentd… We miss you in #dapcentral.

  11. Um, last I heard, 110 minutes was almost two hours. If the movie starts at 8:00, plus previews, I don’t even think you’ll be leaving the Palace until about 10:00. Then you’ve got to drive to Outback.

…not that any of this applies to me.

  12. Close enough t0 10:00pm that the people who are just going to join us for dinner might be there a few minutes early… not a bad thing in my opinion.

Tempis – sorry you can’t make it dude. We’ll have to hook up another time when you don’t have other obligations. I’ll be sure to stop in the channel soon. Can’t let them forget my name, now can I?
